Albena Petrovic

D’origine bulgare, Albena Petrovic a sa place parmi les compositeurs luxembourgeois.

Plus de six cent œuvres dans des genres musicaux différents sont créés par sa plume. Son Altesse Royale Henri, Grand-Duc de Luxembourg attribue en 2013 à la compositrice l'Ordre de Mérite du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg et la nomination CHEVALIER. En 2007 elle reçoit la prestigieuse commande de l'Année Culturelle 2007 Luxembourg et Grande Région pour la composition «Gladius» pour guitare électrique et ensemble instrumental.
La Commission Culturelle et Madame le Maire, Mme Thérèse Gantenbein, lui ont attribué le «Prix Culturel 2007» et le titre de « Méritant » pour la Commune d' Hesperange. En 2007 Albena Petrovic représentait le Grand-Duché de Luxembourg en siégeant en tant que membre du jury du Concours International de Composition « Valentino Bucchi » à Rome, Italie.
Beaucoup de ces composition sont publiées par des éditeurs de renom, dont Schott Music, Luxembourg Music Publishers, Furore Verlag, Octanphare Edition, Editions Phi.  œuvre pédagogique est publiée par son édition privée.

Née à Sofia, en 1965, Albena Vratchanska est la troisième génération d'une famille de musiciens. Elle adopte le nom artistique Petrovic au Luxembourg.
Dès lors, elle impose son envie d'étudier la musique malgré les défis. Décidée à commencer le piano dès l'âge de dix ans, (trop tard pour le système éducatif d'Europe de l'Est), Albena compose déjà à onze ans… (trop tôt pour ce même système...). Elève brillante, elle n'a jamais eu d'obstacles et maîtrise le savoir-faire dans tous les domaines de la musique. Suivant l'exemple de son grand-père, le compositeur Andrey Vrachansky, elle décide de devenir compositeur professionnel. Albena crée sa première œuvre en public en 1979 à l'âge de 14 ans, pour l'Assemblée Internationale des enfants. Cet événement est suivi de nombreux concerts, qui représentent un vrai laboratoire de recherches créatifs et une source de motivation.Après avoir accompli ses études générales et musicales à l'Ecole Nationale de Musique «P.Pipkov», Albena poursuit ses études de composition, de direction et d'écritures musicales à l'Académie Nationale de Musique « Pancho Vladiguérov » à Sofia. Elle est élève de professeurs de composition Plamen Djouroff et Alexander Raychev. Albena occupe le poste de musicologue et Music Manager pour le Festival International «Apollonia», et à l'Agence Nationale de Musique à Sofia. Comme beaucoup des musiciens de la génération du Mur de Berlin, elle est contrainte de partir à l'étranger pour y exercer son métier de pianiste. Depuis 1996, Albena vit et travaille au Luxembourg. Elle y perfectionne ses compétences en composition contemporaine, analyse et informatique musicale auprès de M. Claude Lenners, en adoptant et développant un style fort influencé par son « Culte de la Recherche ».

She is a student of composition teachers Plamen Djouroff and Alexander Raychev. Albena holds the position of Musicologist and Music Manager for the International Festival “Apollonia”, and at the National Music Agency in Sofia. Like many musicians of the generation of the Berlin Wall, she was forced to go abroad to practice her profession as a pianist. Since 1996, Albena lives and works in Luxembourg. She perfected her skills in contemporary composition, analysis and computer music with Mr. Claude Lenners, adopting and developing a style strongly influenced by her "Cult of Research".

Elle fait investir son talent sans épargner: la carrière de pianiste, de chef de choeur très consacré, des centaines d'arrangements. Elle fait un travail pédagogique remarquable avec l'ASBL Artistes en Herbe, elle a une position très active envers la société.

Beaucoup de ses compositions ont été présentées à l'étranger - en Allemagne, Italie, Espagne, Portugal, France, Monaco, Andorre, Belgique, Bulgarie, Slovénie, Slovaquie, Serbie, Kosovo, Macédoine, Autriche, République Tchèque, Russie, USA, Singapore, Australie, Grèce, Pologne, Suisse, Brésil, Turquie. La tournée promotionnelle de son CD "Crystal Dream" avec le pianiste Romain Nosbaum a reçu un grand succès international - dans la presse aussi.
Son opéra The Dark a voyagé aux Festivals étrangers avec succès. En 2018 c'est la première mondiale de Love & Jealousy - deux opéras de chambre, commandés par State Opera Stara Zagora, Bulgarie. En 2019 le CD The Voyager sous label Solo.musica.de est nominé en 3 catégories pour le prix Opus Klassik.de et obtient une tournée promotionnelle de 8 concerts dans des salles entre les plus prestigieuses au Luxembourg, Sofia, Vienne, Barcelone, Reus, Hambourg. Le CD Bridges Of Love, avec la pianiste célèbre Plamena Mangova est paru le 27 Mars 2020 sous label Solo musica.de

Grâce à la politique culturelle au Luxembourg favorable à la création musicale, Albena était impliquée dans la réalisation de plusieurs projets importants. Toujours très active en tant que compositeur, elle consacre une grande partie de son énergie créative à la formation des jeunes musiciens. En 2009, elle est devenue le Président fondateur du Concours International de Composition "Artistes En Herbe" Luxembourg, organisé sous le Haut patronage du Ministère de la Culture et qui depuis la première édition en 2010 a été un grand succès. La deuxième étape de ce Concours est le Forum International de Composition avec le soutien du Ministère de la Culture et de la SACEM Luxembourg. En ce moment est en préparation le 7ième édition du Concours prévu pour 2025.

The promotional tour of her CD "Crystal Dream" with pianist Romain Nosbaum received great international success - also in the press.

Her opera The Dark traveled successfully to foreign festivals. In 2018 it is the world premiere of Love & Jealousy - two chamber operas, commissioned by State Opera Stara Zagora, Bulgaria. In 2019 the CD The Voyager under the label Solo.musica.de is nominated in 3 categories for the Opus Klassik.de prize and obtains a promotional tour of 8 concerts in venues among the most prestigious in Luxembourg, Sofia, Vienna, Barcelona, Reus, Hamburg. The CD Bridges Of Love, with the famous pianist Plamena Mangova was released on March 27, 2020 under the Solo musica.de.

Thanks to the cultural policy in Luxembourg favorable to musical creation, Albena was involved in the realization of several important projects. Always very active as a composer, she devotes a large part of her creative energy to the training of young musicians. In 2009, she became the founding President of the International Composition Competition "Artistes En Herbe" Luxembourg, organized under the High Patronage of the Ministry of Culture and which since the first edition in 2010 has been a great success. The second stage of this Competition is the International Composition Forum with the support of the Ministry of Culture and SACEM Luxembourg. At the moment, the 7th edition of the Competition is in preparation, scheduled for 2025.
